Restricted Access Barrier System (RABS)

Ensuring Aseptic Conditions and Containment in Pharmaceutical Industry Processes

RABS, or Restricted Access Barrier System, is a containment solution designed to enhance aseptic processes in pharmaceutical manufacturing. While both RABS and Isolators create controlled environments, RABS provide less isolation but introduces a degree of operator intervention. A RABS can be designed as open or closed system (Closed RABS i.e. for high-potent products). It features a physical barrier but allows operators to access the system during certain phases of production. This design offers flexibility for tasks that require human intervention while maintaining a high level of cleanliness and containment.
