Design and Engineering

The foundation for success and customer satisfaction on any project is a well-designed solution, integrating engineering controls with high-quality construction, craftsmanship and finishes. HVAC design and engineering are of the utmost importance. Air filtration, system design, load/heat calculations and HVAC controls (BMS/EMS) systems MUST be precisely configured to maintain both the integrity of the space while also providing the highest level of operator safety.

Phases

PHASE 1 – Programming/Program Verification

The User Requirements Specification (URS) documents play a vital role in the accomplishment of any project. This crucial document outlines the requirements that are essential for the production of the product and addresses the needs of end-users. Once the URS is created, it is then translated into a design requirements document known as the Basis of Design (BOD). The purpose of the BOD is to conclude and define the client’s requirements by providing detailed instructions that can be utilized in designing, engineering, and constructing a solution or facility that fulfills the client’s specifications.

PHASE 2 – Schematic Design (SD)

Following customer approval of the BOD, BehinPharma will prepare Schematic Design drawings and layouts illustrating conceptual layouts and workflow as agreed within the BOD. This includes spatial relationships, product layout, room cards and personnel/material flow. Also, in-depth research into jurisdictional regulations and requirements is completed during the SD phase. Deliverables from the SD phase include layouts and drawings of a site plan (if applicable), floor plans, elevations and spatial relationships. Upon SD approval and Design Freeze, some long lead items and materials may be released to procurement.

PHASE 3 – Detail Design (DD)

The DD phase produces both 2D & 3D drawings and renderings. P&ID’s, load calculations, diagrams, plans and detailed schematics are engineered. The DD package is submitted to the client for approval prior to the commencement of full-scale production and release of all items to procurement.

PHASE 4 – Fabrication Design (FD)

The fabrication design phase which focuses on design for fabrication. This phase is one of the most critical phases of a project. Engineers interpret the detailed design into drawings that drive the actual build and install of the facility itself.
